Work Research is a specialist media consultancy focused on the UK’s media owner community and industry trade bodies.
We have particular expertise in developing and improving sales propositions for media owners. Our recommendations are driven by our knowledge of the needs and perceptions of media agency practitioners in comms planning, strategy, investment, digital and programmatic teams; and from primary research (interviews, focus groups, surveys) with those stakeholder groups.
We are also veteran consumer researchers with long experience in working with media and creative agencies to develop and apply insight to communications strategy, media plans, advertising creative strategy and execution.
Work Research was founded in 2006 by Justin Gibbons and quickly became the first-choice research consultancy for a wide range of London-based media owners, industry trade bodies and a variety of agencies.
In 2014 Justin became the founding Planning Partner of advertising agency George & Dragon, along with Nick Hurrell & Rooney Carruthers.
Justin and Tony first worked together at PHD in the early 2000s and now, with encouragement from the media community, they are working together again in 2017 to re-establish Work Research.
Since 2013, Tony has been a strategic planning consultant whose media industry clients have included BARB, UKOM, the IPA and most notably Trinity Mirror, with whom he developed and led the multi-award-winning ‘Modal Britain’ trade marketing activity. Another significant client has been Quorn Foods, for whom he has commissioned and conducted the ongoing consumer research programme and led the development of a new brand and advertising strategy that has enabled a dramatic transformation of the business, taking it from vegetarian niche to a top 10 UK food brand. Tony’s career in consumer research, media and creative agencies and now more recently media owner side has equipped him to operate across those disciplines as a consultant.
